Kailani

Three months had passed since Bishop’s little getaway. Things were better between us, but they still weren’t the way they used to be. I didn’t want to hold on to the past and nag him about it, but I didn’t appreciate him switching up on me. I hate inconsistency. If you know you not the type to kick it with your girl every day, don’t get me used to that shit because when you slack off and I start feeling some type of way, then I’m the one that’s crazy.

He kept giving me the excuse of having to go to Nashville to prepare to open his businesses, but I knew it was more to it than that. If that was the case, we could’ve ended us now because I knew he was going to be in Nashville even more when they opened. I wasn’t the type to do long distance relationships and I didn’t plan on starting now. If everything went as planned, he’d be having his grand opening for the lounge in a month and then he was going to open the club and restaurant a month later.

Since Lay was gone and I didn’t have my best friend anymore, I was spending more time working and recording with Rell. He was becoming my best friend. Genuinely. It wasn’t that we say we just friends because we want to have sex without the commitment type of crap. It was a genuine relationship and I honestly didn’t know how I’d be maintaining if I didn’t have him in my corner with all of Bishop’s foolishness. Rell texted me an address and told me to meet him there so I sat in front of the house in my car and wondered who he wanted me to meet. I guess he’d seen me sitting outside because he came out with the biggest smile and came to open my door.

“How long you gone sit out here in this car, Eve?” he asked before unbuckling my seatbelt and gently pulling me out of the car.

“I was just getting my mind together. Whose house is this? What’s going on?” I asked.

“Do you have to know everything? Why can’t you ever just go with the flow?”

“Yes, and I don’t know,” I replied smiling.

We walked into the house. When we walked into the home and went into the front room, I was confused. It was empty. There wasn’t a piece of furniture in it anywhere. I looked to the left where Rell was standing and the connected room was empty as well. I looked to the right and there were pictures of Tupac and Kendrick Lamar on the wall along with bible quotes. My knees buckled as tears filled my eyes.

“Rell…”

“I know I can’t replace all that you lost in the fire, but I was hoping this could be a good start.”

I shook my head in disbelief as my entire body began to shake. This couldn’t be happening. He pulled a set of keys from his pocket and handed them to me.
